Snapdragon 800 Able To Beat Tegra 4 Easily, According To Qualcomm Senior VP

(GSM Insider) - Snapdragon 800 Able To Beat Tegra 4 Easily, According To Qualcomm Senior VP.

Recently, the benchmark of Tegra 4 has surfaced and revealed that it scored more than 35,000 points at the benchmark tests while HTC One with Snapdragon 600 Series only scored 22,000 points. Looks like the Snapdragon 600 isn't the competitor of Tegra 4. But Qualcomm has an answer for NVIDIA.

Qualcomm Senior VP of product development, Raj Talluri stated that his team is focused on shipping the processors rather than response to rivals' claims. He believes that the Snapdragon 800 able to beat the Tegra 4 easily as it has so many integrated features inside. The Snapdragon 800 has the ability to decode and encode 4K content.

The ZTE Grand Memo is the first device with Snapdragon 800 inside. But Raj said that there are more than 50 more devices with Snapdragon 800 inside coming soon later this year. He also added that the Snapdragon 200 powered devices should be priced at $100 and below, Snapdragon 400 powered devices should be priced at $100 to $300, Snapdragon 600 powered devices should be priced at $300 to $500 while Snadragon 800 powered devices should be priced at $500 and above. Of course these are only suggested pricing.

Qualcomm And MediaTek Discontinue Development Of 8-Core Mobile Processor

(GSM Insider) - Qualcomm And MediaTek Discontinue Development Of 8-Core Mobile Processor.

Samsung is the only mobile processor manufacturer that introduced the 8-core processor to date. It is the Exynos 5 Octa. Instead of rolling out 8-core processor, NVIDIA, Qualcomm and MediaTek continue to introduce quad-core processors.

Tegra 4 is the latest processor from NVIDIA while Qualcomm has Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 800 that are quad-core processors too. Taiwanese company MediaTek introduced the MT6589 low budget quad-core processor in the last year. So, where is 8-core processor?

According to industry sources, Qualcomm and MediaTek set to discontinue the development of 8-core processor because the market does not need any 8-core processor at the moment. MediaTek added that it will use its resources to focus on the development of value added services to its smartphone platform rather than the development of 8-core processor.

NVIDIA Tegra 4 Blows Away Snapdragon 600 And Exynos 4412 In Multiple Benchmark Tests

(GSM Insider) - NVIDIA Tegra 4 Blows Away Snapdragon 600 And Exynos 4412 In Multiple Benchmark Tests.

NVIDIA Tegra 4 isn't powerful? At least the benchmark results showed that the Tegra 4 is more powerful than the red hot Snapdragon 600 from Qualcomm.

When NVIDIA launched the Tegra 4, it's being described as the world's fastest mobile processor. Of course during that time, the Snapdragon 600, Snapdragon 800 and Exynos 5 Octa are yet to announce. Let's see how NVIDIA Tegra 4 goes head to head with Snapdragon 600, Tegra 3, Snapdragon S4 Pro and Exynos 4412. Basically, all these processors are quad-core.

The NVIDIA Tegra 4 scores the impressive 36,489 points at the AnTuTu Benchmark that far ahead of nearest rival Snapdragon 600. The Snapdragon 600 scores 22,678 points at the AnTuTu Benchmark. The Tegra 3 scores 16,091 points, the Snapdragon S4 Pro scores 11,217 points and the Exynos 4412 scores only 6673 points. However, the Samsung Galaxy S3 might not be the global version that features Exynos 4412 and it could be the dual-core version in the United States.

Basically, the NVIDIA Tegra 4 is far ahead of its nearest rival Snapdragon. No Tegra 4 powered device yet but Snapdragon 600 already has two devices powered by it. HTC One and LG Optimus G Pro are two devices that powered by the Snapdragon 600 to-date.

Of course Qualcomm and Samsung don't need to worry so much about the Tegra 4. Qualcomm still has the Snapdragon 800 while Samsung has the Exynos 5 Octa that's said to be much faster than the Tegra 4. On the other hand, the users don't need to worry about the benchmark scores as well. This is because benchmark doesn't represent anything but just the specs.

Upcoming Cheaper and Smaller iPhone Could Powered By Qualcomm Snapdragon's Chip

(GSM Insider) - Upcoming Cheaper and Smaller iPhone Could Powered By Qualcomm's Snapdragon Chip.

The saga of the cheaper and smaller iPhone is very interesting. At first, there was report stated that Apple is working on the cheaper and smaller iPhone. Soon, another report denied it. Actually, no one can confirm about those rumours unless Apple itself, agree?

If the rumours about cheaper and smaller iPhone is true, then is it going to power by A6X processor from Apple? The answer is maybe not.

According to the latest report from Forbes, it reported that the cheaper and smaller iPhone is going to power by Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip instead of its own Apple chip.

Probably, Apple interested in the low-end Snapdragon dual-core processor for its upcoming low-budget iPhone. This is because Apple can save more costs in manufacturing its own processor. It is much easier and directly get the processor from Qualcomm for assembling.

Qualcomm processor for iPhone Mini? Hmmm. Maybe. It could feature transparent back cover as well.
