(GSM Insider) - Top 20 Most Trusted Companies For Privacy: Google, Apple, Samsung Out; Microsoft, Amazon In.

According to Ponemon Institute that conducted the annual privacy survey, Apple is among a few technology companies that not included in the list. 

Last year, Apple was ranked at no.14 position but Apple isn't included in the list of top 20 companies. Samsung, Google, Facebook, Dell, Yahoo and Nokia were left out of the list as well. So it isn't a good news for both rivals Samsung and Apple.

On the other hand, Hewlett Packard (HP) was ranked at no.2 position, Amazon at no.3, IBM at no.4, Verizon at no.11, Microsoft at no.17 while AT&T and Mozilla at no.19 and 20 position.

Mozilla Announces Two Developer Devices For Firefox OS, Known As Keon And Peak

(GSM Insider) - Mozilla Announces Two Developer Devices For Firefox OS, Known As Keon And Peak.

Earlier yesterday, Mozilla announces that two developer devices for its Firefox OS - the Keon and the Peak. These two devices are for developers to work out with the latest mobile operating system. 


These two devices are the products from Mozilla and GeeksPhone under the partnership. These two devices are running on HTML5-based Firefox OS. But both devices are low end smartphones that Mozilla aims to counter-attack on other emerging market. 

The Keon is equipped with a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 1GHz single-core Snapdragon S1 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a micro SD slot and a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Peak has slightly better specs, although it will still be considered a low-end device by today’s standards. The smartphone features a 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and an 8-megapixel rear camera. 

No pricing yet on these two devices. But the developer devices will launch in February this year, 2013.

(GSM Insider) - First Firefox OS Handset Showcased At CES 2013 and Gets Hands-On.

The Android and Windows 8 are two of the platforms that dominating the CES 2013. Another newly developed platform from Mozilla also made its appearance at the event in Las Vegas. 





The latest platform from the browser developer known as the Firefox OS. It has the similar name like the popular Firefox browser. The Firefox OS is targeting on low budget devices.

Since the Firefox OS is targeting low budget devices, the specs of the device is lower. The first Firefox OS has no brand, it remains mysterious on the manufacturer of the device. It could probably built by ZTE.

The first Firefox OS handset has a ARMv6 processor and 256MB of RAM. Dont look down on the low end specs. The Firefox OS is based on the HTML5. It is far more than other devices with same specs on other platform.

That Firefox OS handset also features 3.5-inch display with 800 x 480 resolution and 5-megapixels of camera. This Firefox OS handset looks like the ZTE V788D that launched in China. 

The launch date and price of Firefox OS are yet to reveal by Mozilla. More news on this new platform will be covered by GSM Insider in the future.

Firefox OS Simulator Now Available For Download, Supports Windows, MAC and Linux

(GSM Insider) - It is the latest mobile operating system from Mozilla. Recently, Mozilla released the simulator of the Firefox OS.


The Firefox OS was name as B2G (Boot to Gecko) before. Soon, Mozilla decided to named it as Firefox operating system. The Firefox based from Android operating system. The UI and apps are based of HTML engine of Firefox. 

The whole operating system is developed on the web technologies like HTML, CSS and Javascript. It is easy to install the simulator. So developers that interested in Firefox should download it now!

First FireFox OS Smartphone Leaks, Is The ZTE V788D

(GSM Insider) - Mozilla took another step forward as first FireFox OS smartphone appeared. This FireFox OS prototype is on the developing stage as it available for those developers that interested to develop the FireFox OS.



FireFox OS prototype is manufactured by ZTE. From the design above, we can clearly see it looks like the ZTE V788D. The FireFox OS prototype comes with a 3.5 inches display. Its resolution at 800 x 480 pixels. The main camera is 5 mega-pixel shooter. The processor is 1.5GHz processor. There are no information on whether it runs on a dual-core or single core processor. 

From the home screen of FireFox OS prototype, we can clearly see its clean and neat design. It is similar with the iOS design. The FireFox OS prototype is on the last stage of development. So we can expect Mozilla launch FireFox OS smartphone sometimes next year. [eNet China]

ZTE Smartphone Runs On Firefox OS Spotted, The New OS In Completion Stage

(GSM Insider) - Last week, there are news reported that Mozilla set to partner with ZTE , TCL and Qualcomm to introduce devices that running on Firefox OS. Finally, a very solid proof is here. Firefox OS successful installed and runs on ZTE smartphone.


From the Firefox OS that runs on ZTE smartphone, we can clearly see the operating system already in the later stage where it includes many features. We can see the ZTE smartphone comes with Firefox browser, virtual keyboard, camera function, gallery, Marketplace app and other HTML5 games.
